SORM excerpt

“El. Oh my God! You’re here.” She flung herself into El’s arms, knocking him back into Dalton’s lap, and armful of best friend. The table erupted into laughter as Issy clutched El and hugged him like no tomorrow, reigning kisses on his face.

“I’m glad someone missed me.” El pecked the Latina on the cheek as he hugged her tight.

“Tell me everything, all the nasty.” She slid into the rounded booth next to Johnson, as he shook hands with his partners.

“Welcome back, Dalton. Eldridge. From your smiles, I take it the honeymoon was wonderful.”

“Damn straight,” Dalton replied.

“You two ready to get back into the swing of things?” Deacon asked, catching glimpses of Shane through his peripheral vision.

“Yeah, we’ll start tomorrow. Tonight we need to hit the sack and just sleep. I’ve got jet lag,” Dalton grumbled.

“El, you were supposed to bring him back less cranky. Didn’t you two fuck enough?” Shane jumped in.

“Ha. Ha. We had a layover and have been sitting on a plane for three hours, sue me if my ass is a little sore. And yes, we had plenty of sex, if you must know.” Dalton smiled demonstrating no ill-will or sting to the conversation. “How about you bring us up to speed while we eat?”

Deacon laughed as two conversations took place at the table, the four partners and Eldridge and Issy. Deacon brought Dalton up to date with memberships and club info with Shane and Johnson’s help, while Issy discussed their new business venture with El. The conversation, albeit all of them practically speaking at the same time, flowed and was minimally interrupted except for the waiter.

“We can give you the finer details concerning Manning and Hill, but everything is in order. We gave them a temp pass and we can vote on their admittance next week if you want. And of course, Issy’s great idea about the mixers.” Deacon watched the beam surround Johnson’s face as he praised his friend’s wife.

“I’m excited about the mixers,” Eldridge chimed in as he sipped his orange juice with a splash of mango and pineapple over crushed ice. His favorite, thanks to Dalton. “Can we do themes?” The serene expression on El’s face as he turned to Dalton, saddened and elated Deacon at the same time, hoping that someday, he could witness the same tranquility on Shane’s face, when he looked at him in public. Someday, hopefully, would be here soon.

“Yeah, I think eventually we should do themes, but for the first one, it will be meet and greet, by invitation only. We’ll also have some vendors here to make the rounds for play items and jewelry.”

“On another note, no plans for Saturday evening please.” Issy looked from Dalton to Eldridge. “I’ve planned a dinner party in your honor at our house. Just six of us and El, all your favorite foods. Master James and Tony and Josiah and Sandy were also invited, but aren’t able to come.”

“Wow. Tony and Sandy? A lot has happened since we left,” Dalton stated, intrigued.

“You know that Tony’s had his eye on Sandy for some time now and he finally made the move. They did my flogging demo and they’re interested in a wax play demo when you do another. I think that Tony may ask Sandy to be his, permanently, sooner than later.” Deacon tilted his head as two men approached their table.

Elegantly dressed in black slacks and a crisp white shirt, Christopher Manning, along with Parker Hill, strode over, retrieving two water bottles from a passing waiter. The older gentleman, not hard to miss, had a head full of thick gray hair, worn slightly longer than other men his age, and piercing blue eyes. Manning and Parker Hill were a striking couple.

“I saw the owner’s table full tonight, and I figured I’d come pay my respects. Thank you for the temporary pass, Deacon.” Manning’s deep voice reverberated with authority. “May I introduce my husband, Parker Hill?”

Tiara’s Golden Submission by Evelise Archer

SOR_Tiaras_Golden_Submission_VBT_Banner[1]Genre: BDSM

On the cusp of turning fifty, Tiara, a submissive without a Dom or husband, desired to return to the lifestyle. Placing her destiny in the hands of Madame Eve and the 1Night Stand Service, will Tiara find all that she seeks? Or will a past love interfere with her future plans?

SORM excerpt

“You still got it, girl.” Admiring her lithe and toned body in the full-length mirror, she donned the silk robe left on a hook.

She folded and stowed her costume on the chair so when she returned to the bathroom it would be readily available. Stepping into the dimly lit hallway, Tiara followed the recessed lighting located in the floor to where a DM stood ramrod straight, muscular arms crossed over his chest.

“You may enter.” He held the door open for her and followed her in. “Please remember to utilize your safewords, if necessary. Yellow to slow down and red to stop. If at any time you feel unsettled or unsafe, this button will send a signal to me, and I will enter immediately to stop all play. Do you understand?” The DM pointed to the panic button.

“Yes, I understand.”

“Enjoy.” Without a glance backwards, the imposing DM vacated the room. Stripping off her robe, she folded and left it on a chair for later.

The walls of the Doctor’s Office were a pale pink with brown accents. Her eyes were drawn to the intricate examining table with fur-lined stirrups at the base. The table appeared to be disjointed to allow for adjustable angles. She ran her fingers along the wardrobe cabinet, dark cherrywood sanded smooth to the touch. A queen-size bed, also dark wood, sat in the far corner. She stood at parade rest, eyes downcast.

SORM excerpt

“I don’t drink, but could use a strong one, right now. Not this sissy stuff.” He lifted the glass to his lips, downed the contents, and shoved his now-empty champagne flute away before he leaned in toward her. The smell of alcohol on his breath hinted that he’d already had too much to drink. “Know anyone around here with some whiskey?” The dark sapphire of his eyes chilled her. This was a man used to getting what he wanted. “I’d even share.” His voice deepened and became husky with his offer and she shivered.“I don’t drink with men I don’t know.” Debra stuck out her hand. “I’m Debra, and you are?”

The man grabbed another glass of champagne off a passing waiter’s tray and guzzled the drink in one swallow. “The name’s Johnson O’Neill. Now about that whiskey.” He reached out and drew her up to standing then tugged her in close to him. Wrapping his arm around her back, he moved her body in a slow two-step motion.

Debra gazed into his eyes. “You don’t have to seduce me for the whiskey.” She stepped out of his embrace and put her hands on her hips. She frowned.

“That’s not why I drew you into my arms. You were tapping your foot when I arrived—and I thought you might like a dance. A pretty woman like you shouldn’t be sitting alone.” He stretched his palm out again in a plea.

Eban by Allison Merritt

SOR Eban VBT BannerGenre: Paranormal Romance

If love can’t save them, there will be hell to pay.

Grateful for his mother’s human blood that cools the dark fire of his demon father, Eban Heckmaster has set up a medical practice in New Mexico territory. But there’s no hope of living a normal life until he rids himself of a seductive demon that’s been pursuing him.

Vanquishing it won’t be as simple as sharpening his demon-hunting sword. The clever creature is hiding inside his best friend’s head, and she has no idea of the havoc she’s been wreaking, especially with his body.

Beryl suspects Eban knows why she’s been waking up with no memory of where she’s been or what she’s done, but he’s not talking. But when she inevitably learns what he’s hiding—or rather, what’s hiding inside her—she wonders if her love for him is real, or an illusion created by the demon’s lust.

Eban is losing the battle to hold his rising desire in check. There may be only one way to extricate Beryl from the beast entangling her mind. Call upon his demon blood…and offer it as a sacrifice.

Product Warnings

Contains a half-human, half-demon doctor who can heal anyone except himself, and a woman who’d blush if she could remember the sensuous torture she’s been inflicting on him. Could make you wonder if you should start listening to the voices in your head…

SORM excerpt

Eban Heckmaster dreamed of becoming tangled in a river of gold. Soft and silky upon entering, it turned deadly within moments. He couldn’t breathe as it filled his nose. It bound his wrists, his ankles, blocked his vision. So much and so warm, sweat broke out across his body.

He’d die cradled in a gilded nest.

And he was fine with that.

Anything was better than living with the knowledge that his brother had taken the woman Eban loved as his bride hours ago.

Eban’s lungs ached for breath and his eyes shot open. Startled by weight settling on his abdomen, he tried to sit up, but two small hands held him down. Thanks to his demon blood, it only took a moment to adjust to the dark. In the nonexistent light, he peered up at Beryl Brookshier’s angelic face. She gave him a wicked smile as long strands of wheat blonde hair tickled his bare chest. He sucked in a breath when he realized she was naked and a sheet was the only thing separating her from his raging erection.

“What are you doing?”

The second the words were out of his mouth, Eban knew he wasn’t talking to Beryl.

“Ravish me, Ebaneezer.”

The demon used Beryl’s voice and body, but the thing talking to him was far from human. The notion of taking its head off and sparing himself a lot of trouble was tempting.

If not for the real Beryl’s trusting green eyes and bashful smile.

“That stopped being funny the first time you got naked in front of me.”

She caressed his cheek. “You were dreaming. I was trying to make your dreams more pleasant.”

He slapped her hands away. “You thought you’d tempt me into bedding you and then letting some other parasite into my brain. That’s not going to happen, Rosemar.”

“You want this body. Why deny it, Heckmaster?” The lust demon glowered at him, her irritation creasing the smooth face she borrowed.

“Get off me.” He pushed her away, then grabbed the sheet as she slid off his chest.

“What I want is for you to vacate it, leaving Beryl’s mind intact so I can get out of Berner.”

Her pique faded, replaced by a sultry smile. “We’ve lain awake at night imagining the coupling. This body twined around yours, the friction of skin on skin. Hard muscles meeting soft curves.” Her green eyes brightened mischievously. “Miss Brookshier has quite an imagination.”

He tensed, flushing at her descriptions, but revulsion held his desire at bay. “She’s there with you, right now?”

Rosemar waved a hand. “She’s locked away, but she’s not as innocent as you seem to think. This body is familiar with masculine touch.”

Eban suppressed a groan. “It’s none of my business. Nothing I’m interested in exploring.”

“Your body suggests otherwise. A simple sexual escapade isn’t a lifetime commitment.”

She twisted a strand of hair around her finger, pouting while she batted her eyelashes.

“It is where demons are concerned. You can’t stay in there forever, you know.” He sat against the headboard, trying to ignore the way she pressed her breasts forward.

“Can’t I?” The wicked grin returned. “You can’t get rid of me without killing her. You know that.”

SORM excerpt

I sat on the floor in the tiny bathroom and debated whether I should reach up to the counter and check the stick I had just peed on. It had been over five minutes, more than enough time to get the results I dreaded. I’d thrown up twice since starting the test, but I had gotten used to that. I had been throwing up for over two weeks now. At first, I thought it was just the stress I felt over him leaving. It wasn’t until after he went back to Yale that I realized I was more than three weeks late.

Three weeks and two days, to be exact. I didn’t have to look at that test to know what it was going to tell me, because I already knew. My stomach did another flip just thinking about it. The July heat wasn’t helping, either. I hovered over the toilet, pulled my long hair out of the way, and emptied whatever was left in my system, which wasn’t much. I stood from the floor and rinsed out my mouth, my gaze veering over toward the pregnancy test. My hands trembled as I slowly picked it up. I forced myself to look. I needed the confirmation.

Two pink lines . . . no shock there. I even knew exactly when it happened. The day of the week, and where we were. But, how did I let this happen? I knew the answer to that too.

Tarnished Gold by Brita Addams

March 19, 2015 Uncategorized 1

Genre: M/M Romance

Tarnished: Book One

In 1915, starstruck Jack Abadie strikes out for the gilded streets of the most sinful town in the country—Hollywood. With him, he takes a secret that his country hometown would never understand.

After years of hard work and a chance invitation to a gay gentlemen’s club, Jack is discovered. Soon, his talent, matinee idol good looks, and affable personality propel him to the height of stardom. But fame breeds distrust.

Meeting Wyatt Maitland turns Jack’s life upside down. He wants to be worthy of his good fortune, but old demons haunt him. Only through Wyatt’s strength can Jack face that which keeps him from being the man he wants to be. Love without trust is empty.

As the 1920s roar, scandals rock the movie industry. Public tolerance of Hollywood’s decadence has reached its limit. Under pressure to clean up its act, Jack’s studio issues an ultimatum. Either forsake the man he loves and remain a box office darling, or follow his heart and let his shining star fade to tarnished gold.

SORM excerpt

Since the day he’d seen Wallace Reid in The House of Silence at the Prytania, all he could think of was going to Hollywood and becoming a star. Maybe one day he’d even meet his idol.

Jack checked his pocket watch, a birthday gift from his father. The train would leave at six thirty, and with the three-hour leeway they’d allowed, they’d get to New Orleans Depot with little time to spare.

Andrew, his unwitting accomplice, would make it easier to get past his parents and out of the house, before they forced him to damn himself to eternal hell with more lies.

Jack could barely button his Sunday shirt for his trembling fingers. He donned his waistcoat and trousers, already feeling hotter than he had just out of his bath. Before he slipped into his church coat, he applied pomade to his unruly hair, then raked a comb through. He’d always admired the shine of Wallace Reid’s hair and did his best to emulate it every Sunday for church.

He ticked off another box on his mental checklist. Dressed and ready to go. He’d already hidden his meagerly supplied valise behind the barn.

He cast a gaze around the dusty, cramped attic room he and his brother had always shared. His unmade bed made him wonder how easily he’d take to another one. On impulse, he fluffed up his pillow and put it back in place. Bad enough his mother would find his farewell note propped up against it, no need for her to see the impression of his head to make her even sadder.

He so wished he could have the life he wanted without hurting those he loved, but sadly, he saw no other way. Years of working in the cane fields was no life for a guy with his ambitions.

“Emery’s here,” Andrew shouted up the stairs.

His heart leapt. Just a few more moments, and he’d be in the clear. “Coming.”

He patted his waistcoat pockets. Pocket watch in one and his life savings in the other. He walked out the door without a second thought, and down the stairs.

His sickly father, Wilfred, sat in his favorite chair, reading the newspaper as he did most every day. He’d likely head back to the cane fields after the heat of the day dissipated somewhat.

His father glanced up over his glasses when Jack entered the room. “Where you headed?”

Jack decided he wouldn’t miss his father’s gruffness. “The picture show.”

Wilfred shook his head. “You spend entirely too much time with your head in the clouds, boy.”

Predictable response and nothing he hadn’t heard a million times before. “Yes, sir.”

“You are mighty dressed up for the picture show,” his mother said from across the room. “Andrew said you’re meeting Bessie.”

“Yes, Mama,” he said, his fingers firmly crossed behind his back.

“I’m so happy to hear that. She’s a nice Catholic girl. You know we’d like to see you married soon. You’re twenty, time you settled down.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Jack said, his eyes trained on the door, Emery, and freedom.

“We need more help in the fields. I ain’t gonna live forever.”

“Yes, Papa. I’ve got to go.”

His mother shouted after him as he leaped off the porch. “Dinner at six. Invite Bessie for some birthday cake.”

He waved, but didn’t answer. One less lie to cross his lips.

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Painful memories from long ago resurface when Emily Wells travels to Colorado to clean out her family’s vacation cabin for its new owner. Strongest among them? Her recollections of Logan Chase, Emily’s first love, to whom she gave her heart one magical summer, only to have it broken when she never heard from him again. Logan had never forgotten that summer romance and can’t believe it when he finds Emily packing up the little cabin that he has recently purchased for renovation. Despite the passage of years and their stormy history, Emily and Logan can’t deny the fierce attraction that still sizzles between them…Will one snowy night together be enough to melt her frozen heart and give them both a second chance at love?

SORM excerpt

Hey!” He grabbed her around the middle in a playful tackle and rolled on top of her.

She shrieked in laughter, throwing snow and bucking against him.

He pinned her, breathing hard, and grinned down at her. Snowflakes stuck to his ridiculously long, dark eyelashes, and her breath caught as she looked up into his eyes.

He’d only grown more gorgeous with age. Looking at him caused her chest to actually hurt. She’d missed him so damn much.

The laughter in his eyes changed to something different. Something darker as he looked down at her lips. She sucked in her bottom lip and watched his blue eyes deepen further still.

He leaned down, his mouth achingly close to hers. She could feel the warmth of his breath against her cheek and the delicious weight of his body as he lowered himself onto hers.

What was she doing? She hadn’t seen Logan in years. He might be a totally different person than she remembered him to be. He could have turned into a total a-hole. Or worse, he could still be the same sweet Logan that had held her hand and taught her how to shoot pool.

Would his lips feel familiar? Would he taste the same? Her heart pounded against her chest, and she knew her hands were trembling.

Only one way to find out.

She reached up and laid her hand against his cheek. He closed his eyes and turned his face toward her hand, softly laying a kiss against her palm.

Oh my.

She sucked in her breath, her lips aching in anticipation. He opened his eyes and looked into hers. Looked into her very soul.

Then he leaned down and took her mouth in his. He didn’t just kiss her, he possessed her lips with a passion that sizzled all the way to her toes. His kisses were hungry, greedy, as if he were starving, and she was his last meal.

His right hand tangled in her hair while his left held her face, cupping her cheek in a tender grasp.

Her body burned, and she arched against him, pressing closer as she wrapped her arms around his back and held on. His back was strong. She could feel his muscles tense even through his coat.

They were putting out so much heat that she was surprised the snow hadn’t melted in a circle around them.

Suddenly he pulled back, his breath now coming in hard gasps. “Wait. I’m so sorry. We can’t do this.” He pushed up and leaned back on the snow.

“Oh. Yeah.” Her body was cold without his warmth. She shivered and wrapped her arms around her chest. “No, of course not.”

Wait, why can’t we?

Broken Embrace by Dana Mason

March 15, 2015 Uncategorized 0

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Blurb: The Past…

As childhood sweethearts, Brian and Melissa’s plans were simple: finish school, get married, and live happily ever after. Unfortunately, life didn’t go as planned. Melissa went away to college, and Brian married her best friend.

The Present…

Seventeen years have passed and Brian’s stable family life has come crashing down around him. His wife’s a cheater, his teenage daughter is hiding things from him and Melissa is back in town to remind him of what he lost all those years ago.

Melissa’s returned home, ready to forgive and focus on her future, but that all changes the day she gets a desperate phone call from Brian’s daughter, Erin. Thrown back into Brian’s tumultuous life, Melissa struggles to move beyond the pain of his broken promise.

The Future…

While working together to save Erin from the evil web she’s caught in, Melissa and Brian fight to fix the past or face losing each other all over again.

SORM excerpt

Brian stood with one hand on his daughter’s shoulder and one on his son’s, looking out over Erin’s bowed head. He felt like he’d been thrown back in time, back to a day he would never forget.

Their blond heads perfectly matched as they tilted toward each other in an iron embrace. He remembered the day like it was yesterday, the picture clear as the bright blue sky above. He knew right then—with every breath—he loved Melissa. Who gets this stuff at eight years old? He would’ve laughed at the idea if he had the energy. Who the hell understands what love is at eight? It didn’t make sense, but he couldn’t deny it.

Watching Melissa and Ali cry over their father’s coffin twenty-six years ago was so like today. There they stood, holding each other again, Ali’s hand reached out to Johnny’s, but her arm around Melissa, their heads together, crying all over again. He remembered how hard it had been for them both. He wanted to cry, too, and he did, for Ali and for Melissa. It hurt him in his soul to see the pain and tears in her eyes.

He looked again at Julie’s shining coffin glinting in the bright sun and wanted to kick himself for thinking about Melissa on this day, the very day he had to put his wife in the ground. If Julie could hear his thoughts, she would hate him. Ironically enough, so would Melissa. Melissa would never respect him, not after what he’d done to her, especially if she knew what he was thinking about now.

How did we get here? How did so many things change since that day? Nothing had turned out the way he’d planned. Back then, and for years after, his future was sure. He never doubted where life would lead him. But how could he regret? How could he—as he stood there with his kids—regret his family? Regret his life to this point? Regret Julie? No, he didn’t, of course not, but regret Melissa? Yes, he regretted losing Melissa. He loved Erin and Cody with his whole heart. He’d loved Julie, too, but Melissa was different. He couldn’t explain it, just different than Julie. Melissa held a part of his soul. To this day, she still gripped it in her hands. That part of him had been missing the day he’d proposed to Julie, and every day since then.

Melissa will always have it, even after she marries that jerk-off from Berkeley. Even then, she’ll still own a part of him. His stomach lurched at the thought of her with him, that puny, little clone with no heart or passion. Melissa was full of piss and vinegar, how long would it take this jerk to squash that out of her.

Is this what it felt like to Melissa? Had she felt this sinking, overwhelming sickness when she’d found out about him and Julie? Had she been living with it for all these years? Had her love for him been equal to his for her? He couldn’t remember if he’d ever told her how much he loved her. Did she know? Did that make everything harder for her? Did Julie understand how much he loved her? It’s too late to fix that—she’s gone—Jules is gone. Julie is dead! Did she understand how important she was to him? Even after the hateful things he’d said, he still loved her, and now she was gone.

The Mortal One by Shannon Bell

March 10, 2015 Uncategorized 0

Genre: Paranormal Romance

The Mortal One Series follows Dylan, a woman who is trying to find herself, across Europe. After a run-in with a wannabe vampire in Romania and gives up on their existence, Dylan is cornered by Nico, a real vampire, in Florence. Nico catches her and her heart by surprise. She is suddenly brought into vampire politics at their worst. She needs to receive a mark to keep her safe, but there is another vampire Olivier, who is trying to claim her as well. He has his reasons for doing this and she is faced with who the best vampire is to be with.

SORM excerpt

“Before I could scream, several things happened. He pressed himself down the front of me, sandwiching me between his hard body and the equally hard brick wall. Then the vampire’s mouth descended onto mine, kissing me with a crushing intensity lasting for at least half a minute. Somewhere during the kiss, I rose up on my toes to meet his lips.

The commotion at the other end of the alley stopped. He withdrew from the kiss as quickly as it had begun. I watched him take a step back and lick his lips to savor the taste. I backed myself against the wall to steady myself and pressed my palms flat against the cold brick. The kiss left me breathless. Not because it was from a vampire, but because it was powerful. No one’s ever kissed me like that. If Chris had, I might have fought to stay with him.

I fought the urge to run my fingers through his short waves and press my lips against his again. I also fought the urge to turn and run in the opposite direction because I was attracted to a vampire.

“That was not meant to happen.” He looked past me, purposefully avoiding my gaze.

I took in a very shaky breath. What was that?

“The shop owner you saw earlier hadn’t seen you walk past again. He was checking to see if you were okay. He would have called the police if he thought you were in danger. It was the only way to be convincing.” Niccoló looked away as he didn’t believe what he was saying, either.

“Oh,” was all I could manage out. I couldn’t get my mind to make any coherent thoughts. It made sense he didn’t want to get caught, but a kiss? I wasn’t complaining, which should have meant that I was completely insane.

Normal people don’t want to be kissed by a vampire who’s about to kill them!

“You are one of the strangest mortals I’ve ever met.”

I needed to get better at keeping my thoughts to myself. The fact he could read my mind was getting annoying and more than a little embarrassing.

“You’re one of the strangest vampires I’ve ever met.” I countered.

He laughed again. “I’m the only vampire you’ve ever met.”

“True,” I hesitated. “But how can you want to kill me in one moment and kiss me the next?” I probably should have kept my mouth shut. I didn’t want to remind him of his original plan.
