The star player. The chosen one. Tyler Kidd ruled the hockey league. He was driven hard by a hatred for losing. Yet behind his on ice persona he was damaged. Faced with ruining his career, he had one chance to make things right and not lose the one thing he lived for. Hockey.

Charged with taking hold of Tyler’s career, Paige Martin never dreamed her new job as Renegades PR assistant meant cleaning up after his mistakes. She never imagined she would see a side of him he showed to no-one. And she definitely never thought she’d end up in his bed.

Damn him and his charm. It wasn’t going to work on her; she had seen him at his worst and didn’t need that in her life. This was only business.

Her body disagreed, her heart racing and stomach flopping and twisting as he sat there observing her. Convincing herself was proving more difficult than she thought. Should she sit down? No, she felt more powerful standing above him in her pencil skirt and blazer. Her heels made her seem to tower over him.

Deciding it was best to just jump into business, she mustered up enough strength to speak. “I received a request for you. I think it’s the opportunity we were looking for, but wanted your opinion first.” Handing him the manila folder of paperwork, her body again took control as she sat down next to him.

Dammit! Her skirt was already snug and sitting on this hard bench was making it worse. Her heart was skittering out of control. Being this close to him was wrong. But her body was not budging.

The room stayed silent as he read over the papers. He was freshly showered, and the soap scent tickled her nose. Her eyes traveled over his body, watching his chest rise and fall with every breath he took, and the way his hooded sweatshirt molded to his muscular form.

I am incorrigible. Regaining what little decency she had left, she shook her head, trying to get some sense back, but this is what happened when she was left alone with him. Looking to the door, she hoped Ben or Coach would come waltzing through, but no one did.

“Absolutely.” His deep, quiet voice broke through her thoughts. “I’d love to meet Kevin.”

“What?” She knew his lips were moving but the sound of her own heartbeat clouded her hearing.

“I said, absolutely I’ll do it. Just tell me when and I’ll be here.” The smile was still plastered on his face. “Anytime you have a request with kids, Paige, I’m in.”

“Great,” she whispered. Clearing her throat and pulling herself together, she smiled. “I’ll remember that.” Paige was frozen in his gaze, and at that moment she knew that she had a big problem—she wanted Tyler.
